Turned Earth
Part of Earth Gatherings: Before the Bloom
→ Read the full collection story
Dyed through a layered bundle process—coreopsis over goldenrod, followed by an iron after-bath—Turned Earth carries the quiet complexity of something shifting beneath the surface. Golden warmth softens into greened earth tones, with subtle variation settled across the skein.
The Cuddle base enhances that sense of movement—its uneven structure allowing each layer of dye to reveal itself differently, creating depth without sharp contrast.
A color altered and settled—where brightness has given way to something deeper.
Rooted, weathered, and close to the land.
Details:
100g skein
240 yards (220 meters)
DK weight
100% Fine Merino Wool (21.5 micron)
Single ply boucle, thick and thin
Non-superwash
Dye materials (foraged and gathered locally):
Homegrown coreopsis and locally foraged goldenrod (Long Island, New York)
Notes:
Each skein is one of a kind, with natural variation throughout.
The sweater shown is knit in the same Cuddle base (in different colors), to offer a sense of how the yarn drapes and wears.
