Jack O’Lantern Sock Set
Solar dyed with cosmos from my natural dye garden, Jack o’ Lantern captures the warm orange and golden tones of late summer in a soft, glowing Halloween palette.
Each full skein was placed in its own jar with fresh cosmos flowers and left to develop slowly in the summer sun. The result is a naturally variegated yarn with shifts of warm orange, gold, and cream, with the most saturated areas appearing where the yarn rested directly against the flowers.
This set is paired with a 20g Trick or Treat mini, bundle dyed with cosmos and sumac leaves and finished with an iron afterbath. Its moodier grey, olive, orange, and golden tones create a natural contrast for heels, toes, cuffs, stripes, or colorwork.
Both yarns are dyed on Embrace, a fingering-weight blend of fine merino wool and kid mohair. The mohair adds durability without creating the pronounced halo typically associated with mohair, making Embrace a beautiful all-natural alternative to a traditional nylon-reinforced sock yarn.
Details:
• 1 full skein — 100g / 437 yds / 400 meters
• 1 coordinating mini skein — 20g / approximately 87 yds / 80 meters
• Fingering / sock weight
• Embrace base
• 80% Fine Merino Wool, 21.5 micron
• 20% Kid Mohair
• 4-ply
• Non-superwash
Dye materials:
Jack o’ Lantern — homegrown cosmos, solar dyed
Trick or Treat mini — homegrown cosmos + locally foraged sumac leaves + iron afterbath (Long Island, New York)
Notes:
Each skein is one of a kind, with natural variation throughout.
